| The medium-sized city of Latacunga and capital of the Cotopaxi province offers the chance to experience a less touristic, tranquil town. Although Latacunga was destroyed several times by earthquakes and eruptions of the volcano Cotopaxi, it still has a beautiful historical town that is worth a visit. Still, more famous is the Saturday market of Latacunga where locals do their weekly shopping and the Mamá Negra festivals that are a fascinating cultural event. |
