Quito

Your trip will start on 2850 meters altitude in between the mountains of the Andeans in the capital of Ecuador, Quito. The colonial part of the city has been declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1978 and is definitely worth a visit. Only 23km in the North of Quito you can visit the equator at “Mitad del Mundo” where you can stand with on the southern and the northern hemisphere at the same time. Besides this, Quito offers a great variety of museums, theaters and international restaurants where you can just sit outside and enjoy the South American flair of this exciting city.

Pululahua

The Nationale Reserve Pulaulahu is only 40km in the North of Quito. The volcanic crater of Pulaulahu is one of the biggest on the American continent and you can explore the amazing landscape on the back of a robust mountain horses. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Ecuadorian Andes: green cloud forests, deep river canyons, steep mountain slopes, scenic fields and beautiful crater lakes. This is real Ecuador!

Bellavista Cloud Forest      

After one more night in Quito you will go deep into the mysterious cloud forest where you will sleep at an eco-lodge on top of a hill, overlooking the whole park. The reserve is a paradise for every nature lover and bromeliads and orchids, hummingbirds and tanagers or toucans and antpittas can be found here.

This bio diverse area is a protected nature reserve that consists of around 655,000 hectare of which the majority is tidal forest. The stay in the jungle will be breathtaking as you can see different kinds of animals in their natural habitats and will visit a Native Indian tribe that is still living here. With a bit of luck, different kinds of monkeys, a variety of birds, spiders, little frogs, snakes (including the anaconda) and several rare species like the pink dolphin and the otter.

Cotopaxi

You will travel along the avenue of volcanoes to the second highest volcano of the country, the Cotopaxi. White top, blue sky, llamas and red colonial farms: you are in the heart of the Andes! From the parking lot on 4500m you can climb up to 4800m to enjoy an amazing view of the National Park and the surrounding volcanoes. You can also climb to the top of Cotopaxi on 5.897 meter or descent by bike from the parking lot on 4500m.

Baños 

Baños is located on 1800m altitude and has a subtropical climate. It is a small town in a beautiful landscape that offers something for everyone; the healing hot pools are a perfect place for relaxation and activities like mountain biking, rafting, canyoning or hiking add your stay some more adrenalin and action.

Inca trail Ecuador

Although the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru attracts most people, the Inca Trail to Ingapirca is a popular hike as well. The complex is located at 3230 meters altitude and the most important archaeological ruins which the Cañaris and Inca left. During the hike you go approximately 5-6 hours per day and spend the nights in tents. After that you can return to Quito or Guayaquil to fly back home.

Cuenca

According to many Ecuadorians, Cuenca is their most beautiful city. The city that is situated at the shores of the Tomebamba-river and was honored by the UNESCO in 1999 is your next stop during this trip. The majestic cathedrals, old men playing accordion on the street, lively vegetable markets and colonial houses in different pastel colors make the atmosphere of this city so unique. Ecuador has a rich salsa culture and also in Cuenca the tables and seats will be moved after dinner to have a dance!

Guayaquil

Through the breathtaking landscape of El Cajas National Park you drive from Cuenca to Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city. It has over 2 million inhabitants and is commercially the most active of Ecuador. Located on the river Guayas, the climate is tropical and humid. From Guayaquil international airport you can either fly back home or take a flight to the Galápagos Islands. If you want to stay on the mainland you can also continue your travel to the Puerto Lopez, at Ecuador’s coast.
