Riobamba is the capital city of the province Chimborazo, named after the highest volcano Ecuador (6310m) to which the city borders. From here you can start the trip for the train journey “Nariz del Diablo”. The Devil’s Nose is a brilliant piece of engineering work where the train has to tide over the difference in height by zigzagging. Certainly unique for the beginning of the 20th century.
