Who we are?

Coordination of volunteers and volunteer projects is part of Ecole Idiomas. Beside looking actively for new projects to be included in our offer, existing projects are visited and evaluated by our coordinator. Main criteria in evaluating a project is the contribution and difference a volunteer could bring to the project.

A common question is why you have to pay to do volunteer work. The biggest portion of the sum you pay is for your accommodation during your stay, and meals when the project is outside of Quito. Another part is used to cover fixed costs of the volunteer coordination center. And another part is given to the project as a contribution. And yet another part is put aside in our donation fund which is used for our annual Christmas gifts to all our projects and for small projects that need funding. As a volunteer you can also use all facilities that Ecole offers during the period of your stay.

The projects we offer are divided in three categories:

  1. Projects in Quito: All projects in Quito are social projects that offer their services to the poorest part of Quito’s population on all kinds of different areas. During these projects you can stay at the Ecole Student house or in a hostal, but meals are not included.
  2. Projects outside of Quito: All projects are located outside of Quito, spread out throughout the country. Main focus of project differs: nature, social or a combination of both. During your project outside of Quito accommodation and meals are included.
  3. Galapagos Projects: On the islands San Cristobal and Santa Cruz different social projects are offered. This is a unique way to experience these famous Islands. When you book a Galapagos projects, your accommodation, flight and volunteer visa for the Islands are included, but your meals are not.

Coordination of our projects is done by two of our coworkers at Ecole Idiomas: Annet and Christina
