VOLUNTEER PROFILE

Everybody who is open to a unique experience and that wants to do something for other people is more than welcome as a volunteer in Ecuador. This being said, we do have a minimum age of 18 to be a volunteer but no maximum, and a good health and physical state is recommended. Furthermore you have to be open minded, and willing to accept and adapt to a different culture and strange customs. A basic knowledge of Spanish is necessary with most projects, so it is recommended to combine volunteer work with a basic course of Spanish.

The choice of your project depends entirely on your interests. Some projects could really use specialized volunteers and if you have certain skills, you could ask our volunteer coordinator which project is in most need for your skills.

One of the most important things you have to take into account before starting with volunteer work in Ecuador, is that Ecuador is a South American development country with a completely different work culture than you might be used to. Many things won’t happen as fast as you are used to and sometimes yes is being said while no is being meant. Don’t get frustrated when this happens, but be flexible and adapt yourself to the mentality of the country and be inventive while looking for a solution for the problems you encounter.
